James Rodriguez’s mother Pilar Rubio Gomez criticised Real Madrid’s coach Zinedine Zidane after her son spent the whole Clasico against Barcelona on the bench.
She used her Twitter account to defend her son by replying to Colombian journalist Juan Felipe Cadavid.
“No surprises over the last 15 days.
“He [James] is just not Zidane’s priority right now.
“We have to be patient, wait and hope that it all goes well for us today,” she wrote when the starting lineups were confirmed.
James’ mother doesn’t agree with the criticism her son and Isco have received during the last few weeks either.
“They are compared with Casemiro when they’re not defensive midfielders,” she said.
Finally, she also wrote about how Karim Benzema, Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale are undisputed starters, saying that “Zidane was clear, he will not touch the BBC.
“James can play where he’s comfortable to help the team.”
It should be remembered that James himself also delivered some controversial quotes after his last match for Colombia, but Zidane refuses to pay attention to that argument by saying that the Colombian has “the support of everyone in this club.”
The Colombian arrived at the Bernabeu off the back of a fantastic World Cup campaign in the summer of 2014, and enjoyed an excellent debut season in La Liga under Carlo Ancelotti. However, it’s been a complete contrast this term, with Rodriguez failing to capture the magic of the year previous.
Now, according to the Mirror, the 24-year-old is expected to leave Los Blancos this summer, with a number of clubs, including the likes of United, Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain, believed to be interested in his services.
