Man United Confident Of Landing Rodgers As New Manager

Premier League heavyweights Manchester United are reportedly confident of making Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers their next manager.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has kept his job in the aftermath of the 2-0 derby defeat to Manchester City, and he is expected to be in charge for next weekend’s Premier League clash with Watford after the international break.

Solskjaer’s long-term future at United is far from clear, though, and a recent report claimed that Rodgers had already verbally agreed to become the Red Devil’s next manager.

According to the Daily Star, the Premier League are now becoming increasingly confident of being able to appoint the 48-year-old as their new head coach.

The report claims that Rodgers would find it ‘almost impossible’ to reject the chance to move to Old Trafford, and there is allegedly a release clause in his contract, which can be activated if a Champions League club makes an approach.

The Northern Irishman started his managerial career with Chelsea’s reserve side before taking charge of Watford, Reading, Swansea City, Liverpool and Celtic ahead of a move to Leicester.

Rodgers has won 65, drawn 27 and lost 37 of his 129 matches in charge of the Foxes and led the club to last season’s FA Cup title, and also led the team to lifting the Community Shield earlier this season.
