Super Eagles midfielder, Kelechi Nwakali has expressed his readiness to contribute his quota to the success of the team at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.
Nwakali made this known in a chat with Super Eagles media officer, where he revealed that the players are in confidence mood to make Nigeria proud in Cameroon.
The SD Huesca midfielder, who is expected to play a huge part in the team, also stated that he will bring his creativity and passing quality to the Super Eagles at the bi-annual tournament if called upon by the team interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen.
“It has been been good mingling with the Super Eagles players, training with them off and on the pitch, they have been good guys all round. It has been good even he’s my room mate (Chukwueze). We played in the same academy back in Umahia. We played in the Uner-17, Under-20 and few games in the Under-23. But then it has been good between me and Chukwueze.
“Well, I remember playing under coach Amueneke at the Under 17 level, where he said football is all about time and space. I think that’s one of my best quality as a player and playing under him made me harness it and be more better.
“As a player I know where my strength lies, which is passing the ball and holding the game, and I think if the coach needs me I will be glad to add my input to the team. First of all it’s a team football but as a player I got one of my strongest quality which is passing the ball from a distance.
“This is my first time I am playing under Eguavoen. He is someone who wants the team to play compact football. He always want us to play in numbers once we are attacking. The more you outplayed your opponent in numbers, the more opportunity you have in scoring goals.
“Well, like I rightly said, we came from a country where everybody believe we are suppose to win the competition. But we must understand that other teams also came to win. However, we came to this tournament to represent our country and finish in a flying colours.”
