Tuchel Slams Lukaku’s Performance In Chelsea’s Loss To Man City

Chelsea Manager Thomas Tuchel criticized Romelu Lukaku for his poor performance in Saturday’s defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad.

Tuchel tore into Lukaku for a dismal performance against City after Chelsea lost 1-0 thanks to a Kevin de Bruyne solo effort.

The win saw City go 13-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

After benching Lukaku as punishment for his Sky Sport Italia interview in which he apologised profusely to Inter fans for his summer departure, the Belgian has failed to make up for it with terrible showings.

While Lukaku had criticised Tuchel for his tactical choices and not giving him the right service, the coach hit right back after the game at City.

“Sometimes he has to do the service. He had many ball losses and a huge chance,” Tuchel told BT Sport.

“Of course, we want to serve him but he’s part of the team. The performance upfront in the first half, we can do much, much better.”

Since his return to Chelsea, Lukaku has scored five goals in 14 Premier League games.
