Newcastle United have confirmed that Kieran Trippier broke his metatarsal in Sunday’s Premier League home win against Aston Villa.
According to Sportsmail, scans revealed the extent of the damage,after the defender was forced off in the second half.
Trippier scored the only goal of the game for the hosts.
The England international was also on target in Newcastle’s 3-1 against Everton in midweek.
An official statement from Newcastle read “Newcastle United defender Kieran Trippier is set to be sidelined for the club’s upcoming fixtures after fracturing a bone in his foot during Sunday’s 1-0 victory over Aston Villa.
“Trippier underwent an X-ray immediately after the game and scans have shown a fracture to the fifth metatarsal bone in his left foot.
“Everyone at the club wishes Kieran a speedy recovery”
Trippier has been a key part of Newcastle’s revival after arriving from Atletico Madrid in January.
