English Premier League club Everton have announced that they are severing all ties with Russian sponsors USM, Megafon and Yota.
Everton released a statement to that effect on Wednesday revealing that they have cut ties with companies linked to one of their investors,Alisher Usmanov.
Onefootball.com reports that Russian mogul Usmanov had his assets frozen by the British government due to his ties to Vladmir Putin.
Everton’s statement was as follows “Everyone at Everton remains shocked and saddened by the appalling events unfolding in Ukraine.
“This tragic situation must end as soon as possible, and any further loss of life must be avoided.
“The players, coaching staff and everyone working at Everton is providing full support to our player Vitali Myolenko and his family and will continue to do so.
“The club can confirm thathat it has suspended with immediate effect that all commercial sponsorship arrangements with Russian companies USM, Megafon and Yota.”
