Gilbert Arenas, an ex-NBA player, says there’s no bad blood between him and Javaris Crittenton more than a decade after their infamous locker room gun incident… saying this week he still talks to his former teammate in jail.
The 40-year-old former Wizards guard sat down with LeSean McCoy, Adam “Pacman” Jones, and Brandon Marshall for an episode of “I AM ATHLETE” where he opened up about his relationship with Javaris Crittenton.
Pacman questioned Arenas if he and Javaris were still at odds after the two drew guns on each other in the Wizards’ locker room after a gambling brawl in 2009… and Arenas responded not at all.
In fact, Arenas claims that the two are good friends, and that they still chat on a regular basis despite Javaris’ imprisonment for shooting and killing a lady in 2011.
Arenas stated, “We talk once a week.” “‘Man, what do you think about this series?’ it’s like when we were teammates. What are your thoughts on this series?'”
“He only speaks about basketball. We’ve only discussed basketball.”
Despite the fact that the duo’s careers collapsed after the league punished them for a locker room gun incident, Gilbert maintained he was fine with the former Wizards player shortly after the event.
“His mother required neck surgery,” Arenas explained. “He requested money from me because he knows I won’t take it personally.”
“I took care of him even then,” Arenas claimed. “Nobody was willing to f*** with him at the time. Even now, when he needs a new phone, I send it to him.”
Arenas retired from the NBA after the 2012 season. Crittenton, who is 34 years old, is currently serving a 23-year prison sentence.
