Pep Guardiola Speaks On Signing Neymar From PSG

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has denied rumours that he will sign Paris Saint-Germain forward, Neymar Jr. this summer.

According to Le Parisien, Neymar was offered to the English champions this summer.

The 30-year-old, who has been linked with City and their Premier League rivals, Chelsea, this summer, has had his future put into question, with new PSG sporting director Luis Campos keen to move him during the current transfer window.

Guardiola was addressing a press conference as part of the Cityzens’ pre-season tour ahead of the new football season. The Spaniard ruled out the possibility of the Brazilian joining the Premier League team next season.

Guardiola, on the other hand, denied the reports, saying, “I’m so sorry for Le Parisien but it’s not true. I’m sorry for them because the information they were leaked was false.

“Neymar is an incredible player and the info I have he’s an incredibly nice guy. But it’s not right.

“Every summer Manchester City are going to buy 150 players.”

Manchester City have been busy during the transfer window, bringing in Erling Haaland from Borussia Dortmund, Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United, and Julian Alvarez, and they are also interested in signing Marc Cucurella from Brighton. The trio of Raheem Sterling, Oleksandr Zinchenko, and Gabriel Jesus have all left the Premier League Champions.

However, that would be the final new arrival at the Etihad this summer, according to City sources.

Guardiola’s hopes of a flawless preseason were dashed by the absence of three stars owing to Covid rules.
