Tuchel: “No Hard Feelings” Toward Conte

Despite their altercation during Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Tottenham on Sunday, Thomas Tuchel has stated that he and Antonio Conte have “no hard feelings” against one another.

Tuchel wasn’t lenient toward referee Anthony Taylor, who he thinks should be prohibited from officiating matches involving his team.

The London derby this past weekend was one of the most competitive in recent memory, and both Tuchel and Conte saw red at full time.

Kalidou Koulibaly, making his home debut for Chelsea, gave the visitors an early lead. Afterwards, a controversial second-half equalizer from Hojbjerg for Spurs.

After Reece James appeared to have won it for the hosts, Harry Kane came up with a 96th-minute header to earn Spurs a point.

How Did Tuchel Respond On The Incident With Conte?

The two managers clashed throughout the game, and after a tense post-game handshake at full-time they squared off and that resulted in both of them receiving red cards.

“It’s emotional, football. We don’t need to heat it up. You have emotional coaches on the touchline and that’s it.

“If we meet [later], we meet. If not, then not. Come on guys, it’s between two competitors and nothing bad happened,” Tuchel said to Sky Sports.

“It was hot from the temperature and hot between the benches and hot on the field and hot between the spectators, everything that you want and what you hope in a match like this early in the season.

“It was a brilliant match and unfortunately we didn’t get the win that we deserved.

“There’s no hard feelings [with Conte] – I feel like it was a fair tackle from him and a fair tackle from me.

“We did not insult each other, we did not hit each other, we were fighting for our teams and from my side there’s absolutely no hard feelings. I’m surprised that we both got a red card for that.”
