Cristiano Ronaldo May Be Allowed To Leave Manchester United

United’s stance remains unchanged, and Ronaldo is not for sale. He has one year left on his contract, and United has the option to extend it by an additional year.

However, according to new reports, Erik ten Hag has changed his mind about Cristiano Ronaldo and is now receptive to the idea of selling the forward as soon as possible.

After being hired, the Dutchman had first stated that he was thrilled to be working with a “giant” in the game.

The relationship between the two has now degenerated due to the 37-year-old forward’s demands to quit Old Trafford.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner has made it plain that he wants to leave United in order to join a team that, in his opinion, is more compatible with his goals.

This is a surprising and sharp slide from all the positive feelings he brought to the team in the first part of the previous season.

Why The U-Turn On Selling Ronaldo?

Ronaldo returned to Old Trafford on a two-year contract last year, and he settled in immediately.

His heroics in the Champions League in particular proved that he still has it on the grandest stage in football.

A significant moment in the forward’s second United stint actually happened during a match against Atalanta in the UCL.

After United fell behind by two goals, Ronaldo interrupted his then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s half-time team talk. What ensued was a classic comeback, with the Portugal international scoring the game-winning goal late in the game.

A story from the time suggested that many of Ronaldo’s United colleagues sought a “bigger role” for him after his outstanding performance because of the incredible effect his spontaneous team talk had.

At least then, the former Real Madrid star was thought to be able to bridge the gap between players and staff.

After ten months, it is clear that nothing could be further from that truth as Ronaldo’s agents continue to try to sell him to any Champions League team that will take the time to listen.

Ten Hag, the club’s new manager, has abruptly reversed his former position that he wanted to keep Ronaldo and now appears willing to oversee the 37-year-old’s departure one full year sooner than anticipated.

Ronaldo’s situation has gotten so bad, according to the Athletic, that he currently eats by himself at United’s Carrington base and frequently widens the gap between himself and the rest of his teammates by throwing his arms around in frustration during practice.
