Newcastle United Agree £63m Deal For Alexander Isak

Newcastle United have reached a club record £63 million agreement with Real Sociedad to sign Swedish striker Alexander Isak, making him the third most expensive Premier League transfer this summer.

Eddie Howe’s side, who drew 3-3 with champions Manchester City on Sunday, have been looking to boost their attacking frontline but have missed out on numerous targets, including French forward Huge Ekitike and Watford’s Joao Pedro.

Newcastle manager Howe has continued to be supported by the new Saudi owners’ wealth, with Isak’s deal including £4.2m in potential add-ons and 10% of any future sale according to El Diario Vasco.

If the deal goes through as planned, Sociedad would have completed the largest transfer in the club’s history for a player who has spent the last three years with the club.

During that period, the 22-year-old has 44 goals and eight assists in 132 games across all competitions.

The most recent of these strikes occurred on Sunday, when Sociedad lost 4-1 at home to Barcelona in La Liga.

Given the amount of money involved in the transaction, it is expected that Isak will be the first choice in Newcastle’s attacking ranks.

However, the situation is complicated by the fact that Callum Wilson has already scored twice this season and Chris Wood was only signed for £25 million in January.

If Pedro also decides to move to Newcastle, the club will have to work hard to balance the books before the beginning of September.
