Mason Mount Awaiting Chelsea Final Contract Proposal

Mason Mount is reportedly awaiting a ‘new and final proposal’ from Chelsea, with the Blues aiming to sign the England international to a new long-term contract.

The London club confirmed on Monday that Reece James had signed a new contract at Stamford Bridge, which will last until the summer of 2028.

Mount is reportedly next in line for an extension, and according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, there have been negotiations regarding his future for a “long time.”

According to Romano, the playmaker is presently awaiting Chelsea’s final proposal, with negotiations due to start soon.

The 23-year-old was once an important player for the Blues during the 2021-22 season. He appeared in 53 games and producing 13 goals and 16 assists.

The attacker’s contract expires in two years, and despite his prominence, he is said to be one of the lowest-paid players at Stamford Bridge.

What Has Mason Mount Said On Chelsea’s New Contract?

Mount stated over the summer that he was “extremely pleased” at Chelsea and hoped that talks about a new contract would begin “soon.”

“After the last game of the season we had a little get-together at the hotel and he [Todd Boehly] was there with the rest of the consortium, it was good to meet them in person and speak to them all,” Mason Mount told the Evening Standard at the time.

“It’s so exciting what the future holds. It’s unknown but the way it’s started is really exciting to see what’s going to happen.

“We’re a team that over the last ten years has been up there and pushing and that is where we want to stay. Speaking to them about their goals and aims, we’re on the same page.

“So hopefully that continues. I’ve got two years left on my contract and I’m very, very happy here. Those talks will hopefully be starting soon.”
