Saudi Arabian clubs Still Interested In Manchester United forward Cristiano Ronaldo

The president of the Saudi Football Association has stated that Saudi clubs could still attempt to sign Man United star Cristiano Ronaldo.

In July, the Portuguese superstar allegedly urged super-agent Jorge Mendes to locate him a new team that will compete in the Champions League in 2022-23.

The 37-year-old would eventually stay at Old Trafford due to a lack of serious interest from teams and United’s reluctance to split ways with the club veteran.

However, speculation about Ronaldo’s future will continue as long as he remains at the Theatre Of Dreams and is not named to Erik ten Hag’s starting lineup.

As of now, Ronaldo has made one start and five substitute appearances in the Premier League, with a second start coming last week in the Europa League.

Ronaldo’s future will most likely be under the limelight following the World Cup at the end of the year, and it appears that more lucrative chances may be on the table.

Although numerous Saudi teams were connected with the veteran earlier this summer, a move to the Middle East never looked like a feasible option at the time.

Nonetheless, FA president Yasser Al-Misehal has stated that he would prefer Ronaldo to end his playing career in the country’s top division.

“We would love to see a player like Cristiano Ronaldo playing in the Saudi League,” Al-Misehal told The Athletic.

“It would bring a huge positive feedback and it would be big news for everyone. I’m sure everyone knows the achievements and records of Cristiano Ronaldo, but also as a player who is a great role model.

“I think, ‘Why not?’. I’m sure it would be a very expensive deal, of course, but we can see our clubs getting higher revenues in the past couple of years.

“We have already see some big players who used to play in the Premier League come to the Saudi League. I like Cristiano Ronaldo as a player and I would like to see him play in Saudi Arabia.”

While Ronaldo’s contract at United is set to expire at the end of the season, the club has the option to extend it for another year.
