My Dream Is To Be In The France Team For The World Cup, Says Arsenal Defender

William Saliba, who is currently in superb form for Premier League leaders Arsenal, thinks that making his World Cup debut for France will be a dream.

The center-back has finally made it into the Arsenal first team three years after his £25m move from St Etienne.

He has started each of Arsenal’s seven Premier League games this season, and he has also scored twice, most recently in their 3-0 victory against Brentford on Super Sunday.

Having already earned five caps under Didier Deschamps, Saliba has been called up to the France squad for the Nations League games against Austria and Denmark this month.

The 21-year-old is aiming for a starting position when the World Cup gets underway in November.

“When you represent your country it’s amazing,” Saliba exclusively told Sky Sports last week.

“My dream is to play in the World Cup with my country and I hope I will be in the team for the World Cup.”

Saliba faces stiff competition from Raphael Varane, Jules Kounde, Dayot Upamecano. Meanwhile, uncapped Benoit Badiashile of Monaco is also in the picture.

Recently, Les Bleus have also called up players like Clement Lenglet, Kurt Zouma, Presnel Kimpembe, and Ibrahima Konate.
