Manchester United are reportedly considering making a bid for Benfica forward Goncalo Ramos.
United spent the summer transfer window heavily associated with a variety of players who could play down the middle of their attack, amid uncertainty surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s future.
However, head coach Erik ten Hag decided against bringing in a fresh recognised frontman, instead paying over £82m on Ajax winger Antony.
Ten Hag has plenty of options for this season, with Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, and Anthony Martial all available for the foreseeable future.
Nevertheless, The Sun reports that Ten Hag is considering his options for future seasons, with Goncalo Ramos high on his list.
According to the report, United have already made contact with the representation of the Portugal Under-21 international, who is currently having the finest season of his career.
The newly appointed manager Roger Schmidt has utilised the 21-year-old down the centre of the Benfica attack since Darwin Nunez left for Liverpool.
Goncalo Ramos has eight goals and five assists in 12 appearances across all competitions, with Benfica winning all of them.
While Ramos has four goals in Portugal’s top division this season, his most notable contributions have come during Champions League qualifying, where he scored a hat-trick in the first leg of their third qualifying round encounter with FC Midtjylland.
Ramos’ efforts come after he was linked with a move to a bigger club for the most of the summer transfer season.
