Manchester United have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit to sign Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos.
During the summer transfer window, the Red Devils were heavily linked with a number of strikers, but they ended up investing substantially in Ajax winger Antony.
That approach resulted into Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial being seen as attacking midfielders, and Cristiano Ronaldo eventually remaining at Old Trafford despite significant speculation over his future.
However, Erik ten Hag’s intention to bring in a new face for that part of the pitch in one of the next two transfer windows has not changed.
Manchester United Handed Boost In Pursuit For Goncalo Ramos?
Earlier this month, it was reported that Ten Hag was debating whether to request that United go through with a proposal for Ramos.
The Portugal Under-21 international has already provided eight goals and six assists this season, seizing the opportunity to replace Darwin Nunez, who has left for Liverpool.
Nonetheless, his performances have understandably piqued the curiosity of many clubs, notably Bayern Munich, who may soon be looking for a long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.
However, as per Kicker, Bayern are ‘no longer interested’ in acquiring the 21-year-old’s services.
As things stand, United appears to have a better chance of landing Ramos at some point in 2023.
While PSG were connected with Ramos in the past, they spent heavily in the summer and have already signed Hugo Ekitike as a backup to Kylian Mbappe, Lionel Messi, and Neymar.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, Southampton, and Nottingham Forest were all rumoured to be interested in signing Ramos before United.
However, the trio are only considered outsiders as long as United and Ten Hag are willing to satisfy Benfica’s valuation.
Ramos, who has a contract with Estadio da Luz until 2026, is likely to cost more than the previously reported £25 million if he maintains his present form in his homeland and in the Champions League.
