Oliver Kahn, the CEO of Bayern Munich, has revealed that the club gave consideration to signing Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
The Portuguese star had made it plain that he intended to quit Manchester United in order to play in the Champions League.
Bayern were one of the teams mentioned in connection with Ronaldo, along with Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. However, they all opted not to sign the 37-year-old.
In the end, he remained at Old Trafford as United were keen to keep hold of him as well.

Ronaldo has only made one Premier League appearance so far this year, and that was in the humiliating 4-0 loss to Brentford in August.
The Portuguese will take the field for United against Omonia in the Europa League on Thursday, and manager Erik ten Hag said he has been ‘p***ed off’ at times this season because he has been benched.
Did Bayern Munich Try To Sign Ronaldo?
Although they swiftly ‘dismissed’ the idea, Kahn has confessed that Bayern did consider signing Ronaldo for the benefit of the Bundesliga.
Speaking to Bild, he said: “We briefly discussed Ronaldo at Bayern and Dortmund probably did too. We also see the big picture of the Bundesliga.

“Of course, superstars like Ronaldo are an important factor in attracting attention to the league.
“He is one of the greatest of the last decade. But we quickly dismissed that,” Kahn said.
