Lionel Messi Out Injured For PSG With A Calf Injury, Galtier Reveals

According to coach Christophe Galtier, Lionel Messi will not be available for Paris St. Germain’s Ligue 1 match against Stade de Reims on Saturday.

The Argentine forward appears to have picked up a calf injury in the UCL match against Benfica.

According to L’equipe; “Lionel Messi suffers from a minor contracture in his calf. Following a tackle during PSG’s game vs. Benfica, he felt some discomfort and asked to be substituted out.

“He is not ruled out for PSG’s league game vs. Reims on Saturday.”

Meanwhile, PSG coach Galtier also added: “He asked to be replaced during the Champions League game (against Benfica on Wednesday).

“He has a little problem with his calf but he will be back to training on Sunday,” Galtier told a news conference on Friday.”

Portuguese international, Nuno Mendes, will be sidelined for three weeks with a muscular injury. The young full back was withdrawn in the Benfica game after picking up the injury.

Meanwhile, Kylian Mbappe is also suffering from a throat infection, adding to PSG’s injury troubles. The France forward, however, is anticipated to be a part of the team, according to Galtier, although he might sit on the bench.

This would allow 20-year-old Hugo Ekitike to be handed another start.
