Gabriel Martinelli Demands Arsenal Triple His Wages To £200k-A-Week

Arsenal Forward Gabriel Martinelli is reportedly ready to demand £200,000 per week if he is to sign a new contract.

Martinelli played from the substitutes’ bench as well as the first XI during his first three years at the Emirates Stadium.

However, the 21-year-old is now seen as a key player at Arsenal, having started all nine Premier League games this season.

In those outings, he has four goals and two assists, with his most recent effort being one goal and one assist in a 3-2 win over Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.

With Arsenal currently leading the Premier League table ahead of Man City, they must now balance that quest with ensuring the long-term commitment of some of their key players.

Martinelli fits into that category, as his contract with the North Londoners is set to expire at the end of the 2023-24, placing him in a position where other top clubs will be keeping an eye on the situation.

However, the Daily Mail reports that the involved parties are still some distance from reaching an agreement on new terms for the playmaker.

According to the report, Martinelli wants to almost triple his pay, from £70,000 to around £200,000 per week.

Furthermore, it is reported that an agreement is not close to being achieved, and that the situation may be prolonged if a compromise cannot be struck.

Regardless of the report, Martinelli previously stated that he wants to sign a long-term contract with Arsenal as soon as feasible.

The attacker said: “I think it’s my best season here at Arsenal. I’m so happy for this moment.

“Of course, I want to stay. We are talking. Let’s see what is going to happen. But I want to stay, of course.”
