Manchester United will reportedly not look to replace Cristiano Ronaldo in January if the unsettled Portuguese star leaves the club.
Ronaldo’s fate with the 20-time English champions is in question after refusing to come in as a late substitute against Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League last week.
The 37-year-old was therefore left out of the lineup against Chelsea on Saturday, and he is only under contract with the Red Devils until the end of the season.
According to a recent report, Man United are willing to let Ronaldo depart on a free transfer in January, with Chelsea reportedly interested in signing him.
There have been rumours that if the Portuguese left, the club would try to sign a forward in January.
Despite their limited options in the final third of the field, the Red Devils would not be looking for a Ronaldo replacement, according to The Athletic.
Due to Anthony Martial’s injury issues this season, Marcus Rashford has mostly played as the English giants’ center-forward during the 2022-23 season.
Man United had few attacking options on the bench against Chelsea on Saturday, with Anthony Elanga eventually playing through the centre for the final 10 minutes of a 1-1 draw.

According to Marca, Ronaldo will meet with Ten Hag on Monday to discuss how to resolve the current issue.
If the negotiations go well, the attacker could return to first-team training this week and play in the club’s Europa League match against Sheriff Tiraspol on Thursday night.
Man United football director John Murtough has stated that due to the club’s spending throughout the summer, it is doubtful that they would be active during the January transfer window.
