Aston Villa have appointed Unai Emery as their new head coach to replace Steven Gerrard, the English club announced on Monday.
After their 3-0 loss to Fulham in midweek, the Lions sacked Steven Gerrard and acted quickly to bring ex-Arsenal boss Emery back to the Premier League.
Emery had a contract with Villarreal until 2023, but the 50-year-old was immediately touted as a top candidate to replace Gerrard at Villa Park and has left the club.
Villa have confirmed that Emery will begin his management responsibilities on November 1, with the Spaniard still completing the paperwork of his work permit in order to come to England.

Emery had been in charge of Villarreal since 2020, winning the Europa League in his first season and leading them to the Champions League semifinals the following year.
