Real Madrid Have Contract Extension Ready For Toni Kroos

Real Madrid reportedly have plans to offer a new contract to Toni Kroos, though the midfielder is yet to confirm his decision.

The 32-year-old has been with Los Blancos since 2014, and has enjoyed a remarkable career at the Bernabeu, recording 382 games in all competitions and winning 17 trophies.

Kroos has also been a key member of Carlo Ancelotti’s squad in 2022-23, recording 14 starts and two substitute appearances across all competitions.

However, with less than a year left on his contract, concerns about the future of Kroos’ career continue.

Speaking to reporters earlier this week, the German revealed that he will retire at the Spanish giants, adding that signing new terms was not a certainty.

Kroos said: “I’m very well, I feel good physically. I’m very relaxed about my [contract] renewal. I don’t even know myself what will happen. We’ll decide before March, so that you don’t all get too nervous.

“I’m going to retire here, what I don’t know is when. There’s nothing new to tell.”

The 32-year-old has been with Los Blancos since 2014, during which time he has made 382 appearances in all competitions and won 17 trophies.

Kroos’ comments come at a time when there has been continuous speculation about Real Madrid trying to make further changes to their midfield, with 37-year-old Luka Modric still retaining a regular spot in the centre of the pitch.

However, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Real Madrid officials have already drafted a contract proposal for Kroos.

As per Romano, the former Bayern Munich player will consider staying with the reigning La Liga and European champions for another season.

Furthermore, Romano backs up Kroos’ comments, stating that no developments are probable until the early months of 2023.

Last month, Ancelotti claimed that Kroos would stay at Real, stating that his player had overcome his issues with consistency during the previous season.

Kroos, who will turn 33 in January, is not in contention to represent Germany at the upcoming World Cup after retiring from international football last year.
