PSG ‘To Battle Real Madrid For Son Heung-Min’

Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur attacker Son Heung-min to the club.

The 30-year-old joined Spurs from Bayer Leverkusen in August 2015, and he has played 344 times for the North London club in all competitions, scoring 136 goals and contributing 76 assists.

Son shared the Premier League Golden Boot with Mohamed Salah last season, scoring 23 times in England’s top tier.

Meanwhile, the South Korea international has five goals and two assists in 19 appearances for Antonio Conte’s side this season.

Son’s future at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium has lately been questioned, with his current contract set to end in June 2025.

Real Madrid are believed to be long-term admirers of the attacker, with head coach Carlo Ancelotti eager to bring him to the Bernabeu.

However, El Nacional reports that PSG is also interested, with club president Nasser Al-Khelaifi naming him as a target signing.

According to the report, Al-Khelaifi intends to meet with Son at the World Cup in order to convince the South Korean to join the French champions.

Son became a major doubt for the World Cup after fracturing his eye socket during a Champions League match against Marseille on November 1.

The attacker has now had a face surgery, but he has been selected to South Korea’s squad for the upcoming tournament in Qatar.

If it became clear that Son was pressing for a transfer away from the club, Tottenham allegedly would be open to receiving offers around €80m (£70m).

It is also said that Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Liverpool, and Chelsea are closely monitoring the situation, although it seems unlikely that Spurs would be open to selling to a Premier League rival.

PSG could lose Lionel Messi on a free transfer next summer, leaving up room in the team to pursue a new attacker.

Meanwhile, despite signing a new deal with the club over the summer, Kylian Mbappe’s long-term future at the club remains questionable.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp recently stated that failing to sign Son when in charge of Borussia Dortmund was “one of the biggest mistakes of his life.”
