The world’s eighth-richest man Mukesh Ambani is reportedly interested in becoming the new owner of Liverpool Football Club.
The club’s current owners, Fenway Sports Group, recently issued a statement indicating that they would be open to new investment.
A number of individuals and companies have previously been linked to a prospective takeover, including claims of discussions with a US-based buyer.
According to The Mirror, there has also been interest from Ambani, who Forbes ranks as the eighth-richest person in the world with a net worth of over £90b.
However, he will have to compete with other groups from the Middle East and the United States, since Liverpool’s present owners, Fenway Sports Group, have been overwhelmed with tentative bids.
They are said to be ready to sell for £4bn, but there is a greater desire to purchase the Merseyside club outright.
However, Ambani won’t be deterred by that amount because he loves sports a lot.
He owns IPL cricket giants Mumbai Indians and was instrumental in the formation of India’s Super League.

While cricket is a religion in India, football is fast catching up, with the English Premier League garnering strong interest and Liverpool being one of the most popular clubs, with jersey sales skyrocketing.
Ambani, 65, would be willing to put millions into the club for transfers to help Liverpool maintain its position as one of Europe’s most successful clubs.
However, Ambani will not have the negotiation table to himself once interest from Dubai, Bahrain, and the USA heats up, which is wonderful news for FSG co-founder John W Henry and his friends.
