Kylian Mbappe announced his intention to leave Paris Saint-Germain after the Ligue 1 club failed to pay his lucrative wage, according to reports.
Despite being linked with a move to LaLiga giants Real Madrid, the 23-year-old signed a contract extension with the French champions in the summer.
Mbappe’s deal, which keeps him in Paris until 2025, accounts for a quarter of the team’s total budget.
Mbappe makes £5.2m per month and got a £156m signing bonus, which is paid in three instalments every July.
His contract also contains a £60m loyalty incentive, which will be paid at the end of each season. This will rise by £8.68 m for each season he remains at the club.
According to L’Equipe, Mbappe became aware that he had not been paid before to PSG’s Champions League match against Benfica on October 5.
The France international was taken aback that he hadn’t been paid, but he is claimed to have given the club the benefit of the doubt.
Mbappe reportedly checked his bank account again on October 11 and became upset that he still hadn’t been paid.
As a result, Mbappe informed PSG that he intended to depart in July, despite strong interest from Real Madrid, which paid £154m for his services in the summer.

Mbappe’s squad probed PSG on what was going on, but they did not receive a satisfactory response from the Ligue 1 club.
Some claimed to be experiencing ‘account troubles,’ while others reported ‘FFP issues’ as the reason of the delay.
PSG is alleged to have fully compensated the 23-year-old. The club has paid Mbappe’s wages and bonuses, a club representative confirmed to L’Équipe.
