The Portugal international and the Argentina international forward drove each other and made each other raise their standards.
The two global superstars will play at the 2022 World Cup finals in Qatar in what will probably be their last World Cups.
The Manchester United star is 37 now, while Messi is 35. The 2022 World Cup finals starts on Sunday, and on the eve of the tournament, they have posted the same photo and caption on Instagram.

It is part of an advertising campaign for the Louis Vuitton brand.
Interestingly, this comes just days after Ronaldo raved about Messi to Piers Morgan in a TV interview. Ronaldo praised Messi for his professional comments about him over the years.
The Portuguese superstar was hugely complimentary of a player who is arguably the only footballer in history who could say that he is better than him.
