Cristiano Ronaldo says he doesn’t care what people think of him in the aftermath of his controversial interview. The Manchester United superstar has surprised the media in Qatar by unexpectedly attending a press conference.
Ronaldo’s explosive interview with Morgan aired last Wednesday and Thursday, as Portugal began preparations for the World Cup. The 37-year-old was critical of United, its hierarchy, manager Erik ten Hag, and several high-profile former players like Gary Neville and Wayne Rooney.
It has sent shockwaves across the football world, and United is considering suing the superstar and sacking him. Ronaldo has faced criticism for the timing of the interview from people like Neville.
Breaking his silence on the interview, Ronaldo said on Monday as quoted by The Mirror: “Timing is always timing. From your side it is easy to look at how we can chose timings.
“Sometimes you write truths, sometimes you write lies. I don’t have to worry what others think. I talk when I want to. Everybody knows who I am, what I believe in.”
Ronaldo also defined himself as “bulletproof” and “ironclad” during the press conference. The striker implored the Portuguese media to stop questioning his teammates about him and his interview.

Ronaldo also addressed the clip which some said showed his Man United teammate Bruno Fernandes giving him the cold shoulder when he landed in Lisbon last week. Ronaldo maintained he was joking with Fernandes since he was late to the training camp.
He said: “His plane was late – I asked him did you come by boat.”
Ronaldo missed Portugal’s warm-up match against Nigeria on Thursday due to a stomach bug. However, he appears to be on track to start the tournament this week.
Portugal will play Ghana in their World Cup opener on Thursday. Uruguay and South Korea round off a strong-looking Group H.
