Following Senegal’s 3-1 victory over the World Cup hosts on Friday, Qatar’s chances of qualifying are now in tatters.
Goals from Boulaye Dia, Famara Diedhiou and Bamba Dieng were enough to beat Qatar, who will be eliminated if Group A leaders Netherlands avoid defeat to Ecuador later on Friday.
Qatar waited 12 years to host the World Cup, but it may have taken just six days for the host country to be knocked out.

The defeat to Senegal means Qatar are now at the mercy of the Netherlands.
A win or draw against Ecuador on Friday afternoon for the Oranje would consign Qatar to some unwanted World Cup history as the first host country to be knocked out after two matches.
Qatar are rooted to the bottom of Group A with one game to play and will be the first nation eliminated from the tournament.’

Boulaye Dia (41) and Famara Diedhiou (48) struck either side of half-time to put Senegal in control as they set about responding to their opening-night defeat to the Netherlands.
Mohammed Muntari pulled one back with an historic first goal in the tournament finals for Qatar.
However, the hosts’ unlikely comeback lasted just six minutes as Ahmadou Dieng restored Senegal’s two-goal lead in the 84th minute.
