Man United ‘Suffer Victor Osimhen Transfer Blow’

Napoli have reportedly informed Manchester United that Victor Osimhen would not be available for transfer during the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old has been in excellent form for the Italian giants this season, netting 10 goals and contributing three assists in 14 games across all competitions.

Meanwhile, since joining the Blues from Lille in September 2020, the Nigeria international has scored 38 goals and recorded 12 assists.

Man United are understood to regard Osimhen as a top target to replace Cristiano Ronaldo, whose contract at Old Trafford has been terminated.

The Red Devils were expected to keep Ronaldo for the rest of the season before bringing in a replacement during the summer transfer window.

However, the club are believed to be prepared to move its plans to January, owing to Ronaldo’s recent interview with Piers Morgan on TalkTV.

Osimhen’s future has generated a lot of interest due to his recent performance.

However, according to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United have little chance of signing the Nigerian halfway through the 2022-23 season.

“Napoli insist they won’t sell Osimhen or any other player in January. The price tag in the summer was €120m (£103.1m) and nothing happened, now they’re doing great in Serie A and Champions League so there are no plans to sell him in January at all,” Romano wrote on his column for Caught Offside.

Osimhen has nine goals and three assists in 11 Serie A games for Napoli this season, with the team presently leading the table with 41 points.

Gli Azzurri are eight points ahead of second-placed AC Milan and are chasing their first Serie A title since 1990.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian scored once in three Champions League matches, propelling the team to the last-16 round.
