Phil Foden has predicted that his England team-mate Jude Bellingham will end up being “the best midfielder in the world” after his sensational display against Senegal.
The Borussia Dortmund prodigy has been a regular of England’s midfield alongside Declan Rice at the 2022 World Cup, and he was praised by fans and pundits alike on Sunday evening.
Bellingham formed a midfield trio with Rice and Jordan Henderson for the Three Lions’ last-16 match against Senegal, who were defeated 3-0 by Gareth Southgate’s side.
Senegal gave England a fright early on, but Bellingham found Henderson for the first goal in the 38th minute.
The 19-year-old then played a key role in England’s second goal just before halftime, surging forward and laying off Foden, who found Harry Kane to score.
Bukayo Saka scored England’s third goal after a ball from Foden, who also had two assists, but the Manchester City player was quick to stress that Bellingham will become a world-beater in his position.
Speaking to ITV Sport after the game as per GOAL, Foden said: “I don’t want to big up Jude Bellingham too much because he’s still young, but he’s one of the most gifted players I’ve ever seen.
“I don’t see a weakness in his game. He’s got everything, and he’s going to be the best midfielder in the world, for sure.”

Bellingham has improved steadily since moving from Birmingham City to Dortmund, and speculation over his future is already dominating the transfer market.
Bellingham is expected to start against reigning champions France in the World Cup quarterfinals on Saturday evening.
The youngster is under contract to Borussia Dortmund until 2025, and they are reportedly seeking at least £129m to part ways with him.
