After the Brazilian suffered a knee injury at the World Cup that could sideline him for three months, Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu has called Gabriel Jesus’ injury a “shame.”
In Brazil’s group-stage loss to Cameroon, the striker was injured just after the hour mark and will now miss the remainder of the competition.
Since joining Mikel Arteta’s team from Manchester City in the summer, Jesus, 25, has played a crucial role thanks to his goals and all-around contribution to the Gunners’ style of play.
He was selected for Brazil’s World Cup squad because to his performance, which coincided with Arsenal’s ascent to the top of the Premier League.
However, Tottenham’s Richarlison has been preferred by Tite and Jesus was only handed his first start in the final group game after booking their place in the round of 16.
However, a needless challenge has resulted in Arteta being without his number nine for the foreseeable future ahead of their intense Premier League title charge alongside Manchester City.

Arteta and technical director Edu have just under a month before the January transfer window opens and it’s expected the recruitment team at the Emirates Stadium will ponder delving into the market to add a short-term replacement to the squad.
However, Jesus’ importance within the Gunners squad isn’t to be underestimated.

“So I’m sorry for him, but hopefully he will be back soon,” Tomiyasu said.
