After suffering a knee injury at the World Cup, Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus looks set to be out for several weeks.
The Brazilian started for the first time in Qatar in Brazil’s match against Cameroon in Group G but was taken off in the second half.
Reports suggest Jesus has a torn medial collateral ligament and will need surgery to have it fixed.
Previously, it was anticipated that the Brazilian striker would be out for three to four weeks, but recent information indicates that the injury is far more serious than initially thought.
It’s unclear with regard to how long the striker will be sidelined as everything is dependent on how he heals. Jesus has suffered an MCL injury before during his time at Manchester City, but did not require an operation on that occasion.

The best-case scenario for Gabriel Jesus in this situation is a return to action within three months.
This would mean he can still play a part in Arsenal’s Premier League title challenge during the second half of the season, despite missing the busy festive period after the World Cup.
According to Dr. Rajpal Brar, DPT, a typical recovery timeline after an MCL injury is between 10 to 12 weeks.
Latest on Gabriel Jesus. Return timeline after MCL surgery is typically 10-12 weeks. Ligament heals quite well due to robust blood supply. Granit Xhaka was back in 70 days & would’ve been sooner if not for accompanying fracture as well. True timeline will be wait & see#arsenal https://t.co/k1ObOYuQbo

Jesus’ club teammate Granit Xhaka has suffered a similar injury in the past and was fully fit again after 70 days (10 weeks), though this was hampered by an accompanying fracture.
