Arsenal Star Gabriel Jesus Undergoes Successful Surgery On Knee Injury

Arsenal have announced that striker Gabriel Jesus has underwent a successful surgery on a knee injury and will now be out for an extended period of time.

The 25-year-old suffered the injury in Brazil’s World Cup 2022 Group G match against Cameroon, where he was given the nod by Tite with qualification already confirmed.

Jesus failed to make an impact on the game and was substituted just after the hour mark, but it was later revealed that the ex-Man City star was suffering from a knee injury.

The issue was bad enough to keep him out of the rest of the competition, and he was initially expected to be out for three weeks.

However, reports from Brazil claimed that Jesus might be out of action for months, with the injury likely bad enough to require surgical intervention.

The Gunners have now confirmed the worst, and Jesus will be sidelined for an extended period of time while he recovers from the surgery.

According to a statement on arsenal.com: “Gabriel Jesus has successfully undergone surgery to his right knee after suffering an injury during the Brazil v Cameroon World Cup group stage match on Friday.

“Gabby will now begin his rehabilitation programme. Everyone at the club is supporting Gabby and will be working hard to get him back on the pitch as soon as possible.”

Arsenal did not provide a timetable for Jesus’ recovery, but the Brazil international is expected to be out for at least a few months.

After the procedure, Jesus posted a photo from his hospital bed of himself giving a thumbs up with the caption: “God is wonderful. I will be back stronger.”
