Following Portugal’s crushing of Switzerland at the World Cup, Joao Felix has criticized his club side coach, Diego Simeone, with a transfer becoming increasingly possible.
Atletico Madrid paid an extraordinary £113m for Felix when he joined from Benfica in 2019.
However, it now looks like he will be leaving either in January or the summer of 2023.
Felix started in the 6-1 drubbing of the Swiss, which has elevated Portugal to the status of legitimate World Cup contenders. Portugal will now face Morocco in the quarterfinals.
The 23-year-old, who has started just five La Liga games under Simeone this season, is enjoying himself on international duty more than he has at club level.
He made it plain following the spectacular victory over Switzerland that things were different with Portugal than they were with Atletico, and he was also enjoying the more expansive football being played at the World Cup.
João Félix sends one more message on Atletico Madrid: “The way of playing with Portugal and then at the club is different. When the conditions are favourable, things go better”, told Sport Tv. 🇵🇹 #Qatar2022 pic.twitter.com/Y31FswqPjw

What Joao Felix Said
‘The way you play here and at the club are different,’ Felix told Portuguese channel Spor TV.
‘When the conditions are favourable, things go better.
‘The preparation was the same as the other games. We saw what was best and worst and played because of that, not losing our identity.
‘We played a great game, perhaps the best so far, we are focused and believe completely in us. I hope it’s been shown that we have a great team, we know what we want.

The Premier League is an option for the Portugal forward. Both Manchester United and Chelsea are linked with a move to bring the youngster to the PL.
