Chelsea Defender Injured In Friendly Win Over Brentford

Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana has experienced yet another injury setback during Chelsea’s friendly game against Brentford on Tuesday night.

With three 45-minute halves played, the Blues easily defeated their London rivals Brentford 5-1 at Cobham in the unusual friendly. Kai Havertz scored three goals during the game.

Fofana, who has recently come back from a knee issue, hobbled off due to an apparent injury concern.

The defender is now set to have a scan to determine the servity of the injury.

The 22-year-old has missed an alarming amount of football in recent seasons thanks to a series of unfortunate injuries.

Fofana missed eight months of actions during the 2021/22 season after breaking his leg in a pre-season friendly while at Leicester City, and has also missed 11 games since joining Chelsea in the summer too.

News of another injury to a young Chelsea star comes shortly after the club announced that striker Armando Broja tore his ACL in a friendly against Aston Villa.

A statement on Broja’s ACL injury read: “Having sustained a knee injury during the first half of Sunday’s friendly against Aston Villa, Armando underwent further assessment following the club’s return to England.

“Scan results from those assessments have unfortunately confirmed an anterior cruciate ligament rupture and that surgery will be required.

“Following the operation, Armando will work closely with the club’s medical department during his rehabilitation and is expected to miss the remainder of the 2022/23 campaign.”
