Manchester United’s newest addition, Wout Weghorst, trained with his teammates for the first time on Sunday, with the striker in contention to make his debut for the club against Crystal Palace on Wednesday.
The Red Devils confirmed the arrival of the Netherlands international on Friday evening, after reaching an agreement with Burnley on a loan deal for the remainder of the 2022-23 season.
Weghorst was in the stands for Saturday’s Manchester derby, which saw his new squad come from behind to defeat Manchester City 2-1 at Old Trafford.
The Dutchman was spotted training with his new teammates on Sunday, and he is expected to play against Palace at Selhurst Park on Wednesday.
Photos from the Dutchman’s first training session were shared by the club’s Instagram page.
Man United are said to have paid Burnley £2.6m to loan the forward for the rest of the season, and they will also cover his wages during the loan period.
Weghorst struggled to make an impression for Burnley in the second half of last season after joining from Wolfsburg, scoring twice and assisting three times in 20 appearances across all competitions.

However, in 18 appearances for Besiktas, the centre-forward scored nine goals and registered four assists before leaving for Old Trafford.
Man United terminated Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract at the end of November, furthering the club’s desire to sign another forward during the January transfer window.
Weghorst’s most recent match was on January 7, when he scored in a 2-1 win for Besiktas over Kasimpasa in Turkey’s top flight.
Weghorst played for his country in the 2022 World Cup, scoring twice against Argentina in the quarterfinals to force extra time.
