Just a few weeks after announcing his retirement from football, Gareth Bale has announced he will participate in a PGA Tour tournament.
The Wales star retired earlier this month after an incredible career that saw him lead his nation to three major tournaments and win a slew of medals at club level, including five Champions Leagues.
Gareth Bale has now revealed he will play in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in February in California. The tournament runs from February 2-5 and will feature a mix of professional golfers and celebrities, with a prize fund of $9m up for grabs.
Actors Bill Murray and Alfonso Ribeiro are among those who will also compete in the tournament alongside pro stars such as Jordan Spieth, Luke Donald and Matt Fitzpatrick.
Confirming his attendance in the tournament on Instagram, Bale wrote: “Delighted to announce I will be playing in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at the start of next month! Let’s go.”

Bale has regularly discussed his love for golf and sparked controversy when he danced with a “Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order” flag after Wales qualified for Euro 2020.
The 33-year-old recently opened up a new golf-themed bar in Cardiff called Par59 in addition to owning his own sports bar, Elevens, in the capital city. Bale won 111 caps for his country, scoring 41 goals.
