PSG Appeal Denied, Hakim Ziyech Chelsea Exit Called Off

Hakim Ziyech will not join Paris Saint-Germain on loan after after Chelsea messed up the necessary paperwork.

On Monday evening, it was reported that PSG had begun negotiations to sign Ziyech, who was free to leave Chelsea.

Despite the fact that it was agreed that any deal would be a straight loan, it was claimed in France that Chelsea were ‘greedy’ during negotiations.

The subsequent delays resulted in the late exchange of documents between the relevant parties, but it appears that the transfer will still take place as planned.

That was until it was revealed that Chelsea officials had repeatedly sent the wrong document, resulting in the deal not being processed before the deadlines.

This occurred while Ziyech was said to be present in the PSG offices, awaiting the signing to be finalised, but it left the Ligue 1 leaders needing to appeal to LFP on Wednesday in order to complete the transfer.

Now, it is widely reported that PSG failed in their efforts, forcing Ziyech to return to Chelsea, where he is likely to be further down the pecking order.

According to L’Equipe, Chelsea lawyers twice returned documents to PSG without the required signature, and by the time the correction was made, the deadline had passed.

While PSG are arguably well-positioned to deal with the failure to sign Ziyech, the player is now in a position where game time will likely be limited for the remainder of 2022-23.

Chelsea have signed Noni Madueke, Mykhaylo Mudryk, and Joao Felix to bolster their midfield options, and they will all be considered ahead of Ziyech.
