Manchester United defender Luke Shaw is reportedly close to signing a new long-term contract with the 20-time English champions.
The 27-year-current old’s contract at Old Trafford is set to expire in June 2024, with the club recently activating a 12-month extension on his contract, which was due to expire this summer.
However, the Red Devils are believed to be determined to sign the England international to a long-term contract, with the left-back becoming one of the team’s most reliable players in recent months.
Shaw was dropped from the first team earlier this season after two poor performances against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford.
But, the full-back has been a significant player since the beginning of October, and he has now provided one goal and three assists in 29 games for the 20-time English champions this season.
According to Football Insider, Shaw is close to signing a new long-term contract at Old Trafford, with both parties eager to maintain their partnership.
This season, the former Southampton youth has usually played as a left-back, but he has also featured as a central defender since the 2022 World Cup.

Shaw has played in the midfield against Nottingham Forest, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Manchester City, and Leeds United in the Premier League, and as a centre-back against Barcelona in the Europa League on Thursday due to Lisandro Martinez’s suspension.
Man United is still competing on four fronts this season, with the club aiming to reach the Europa League knockout phase at the expense of Barcelona.
The Red Devils will meet Newcastle United in the EFL Cup final on Sunday, and West Ham United in the fifth round of the FA Cup on March 1.
