David Seaman stated on his Seaman Says podcast that Reiss Nelson could potentially be in contention to start for Arsenal against Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League, but added that this would not have been the case if the Gunners faced a Premier League side in their next match.
Nelson was obviously Arsenal’s hero over the weekend. In a 3-2 victory over Bournemouth, they increased their advantage over Manchester City to five points once more thanks to the 23-year-magnificent old’s goal.
Nelson has a fantastic record in the Premier League this season. In three games for Mikel Arteta’s team, he has three goals and two assists. This includes his impressive display against Nottingham Forest earlier this season.
Amazingly, he has played for close to 90 minutes in total.
What Did Seaman Say About Nelson?
While speaking on the platform, he [Seaman] said: “That story’s brilliant because he’s been out on loan to a lot of clubs, trying to get experience.
“And then, he’s had a lot of injuries as well. And then, to come back, it’s really good for him. It might be a little platform for him to kick on and hopefully get a bit more game-time at Arsenal,” he told Seaman Says.
“He might do against Sporting. If it was another league game coming up, I’d say no. But for Sporting, he might do.”
Arteta will have a wonderful chance to ring up some changes in his lineup and keep his players fresh during the Europa League. Arsenal would certainly like to win the competition.
But, fans would gladly give up the competition if it increased their chances of taking home the Premier League title.

Nelson can therefore be used at this moment. But it would be difficult for the winger to displace players like Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka from the attacking fold.
Yet, if he can keep having an impact, Arteta might be forced to utilize him more as the season is gradually coming to an end.
