Chelsea are reportedly disappointed with former manager Thomas Tuchel after he publicly declared interest in luring Anthony Barry to Bayern Munich from Stamford Bridge.
Barry has been a member of Chelsea’s coaching staff since 2020, first under Frank Lampard and then under Tuchel and Graham Potter.
Having held jobs with Belgium and Portugal throughout his time at Stamford Bridge, the 36-year-old’s stock has improved to the point where he is being considered for managerial duties in the EFL this season.
Nevertheless, Barry has remained with the Premier League giants, which appeared to be for the foreseeable future until Tuchel returned to the sport last week.
The German, who was dismissed by Chelsea in September, was confirmed as Bayern’s next head coach, and he was publicly unveiled shortly afterwards at a press conference.
When speaking to the press, Tuchel said: “We’re hoping to add Anthony Barry, who is currently at Chelsea.”
According to The Telegraph, the public acknowledgement that Barry is a target have infuriated the Chelsea management.
According to the report, Bayern Munich have made a formal effort to secure Barry’s services as soon as possible, with the Bundesliga title-chasers having already appointed Tuchel’s regular right-hand men Zsolt Low and Arno Michels, who were no longer linked with Chelsea.

Barry is reportedly open to moving to the Allianz Arena to work with a head coach who won the Champions League during his stint in England.
Bayern are believed to have held back on giving a compensation price for Barry, however it is expected that this will come soon if negotiations continue.
Despite this, Barry’s influence behind the scenes meant he was a welcome mainstay at the club, with the new owners aware of his growing reputation.
