Chelsea have reportedly held their opening round of talks with Julian Nagelsmann over their managerial vacancy.
Since the Blues sacked Graham Potter earlier this month, a slew of top European head coaches have been touted to take over in West London.
Former Blues manager and renowned footballer Frank Lampard has been appointed as interim manager till the end of the season as the Blues board conduct an in-depth search for a new manager for the 2023-24 season.
Only a few weeks before Chelsea sacked Potter, Bayern relieved Nagelsmann of his duties, and he has since been replaced by ex-Blues head coach Thomas Tuchel.
Following his shocking departure from Bayern, Nagelsmann has emerged as a major managerial prospect for Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur.
Nagelsmann isn’t expected to make a decision on his next career move for several months, but it was reported this week that he was invited to present his ideas to Chelsea.
According to The Times, Chelsea co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart presided over their first meeting with Nagelsmann on Thursday, speaking to the German in person.

However, the report adds that no preferred candidate has yet been chosen, since calls were made with other managers on either side of their talk with Nagelsmann, who might possibly be on the radar of PSG and Real Madrid this summer.
Chelsea are 11th in the 2022-23 season, 17 points behind Newcastle United for the final Champions League spot, with only seven games remaining.
Chelsea are said to have undertaken conversations with Sporting Lisbon manager Ruben Amorim, as well as Luis Enrique and Marcelo Gallardo, who are both considered viable candidates to take over.
