Lionel Messi entered the Ligue 1 history books as he helped Paris Saint-Germain to a 2-1 victory over Angers SCO.
On Friday night at the Stade Raymond Kopa, Messi contributed to one of the assists that led to a goal from Kylian Mbappe as the capital club defeated Angers SCO 2-1.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup champion has recorded 15 goals and 15 assists in the Ligue 1 this season.
Lionel Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires in June. So if the 2022–23 Ligue 1 season is in fact his final one, it will be a momentous one for the Argentine.
On Twitter, OptaJean noted that Messi has joined just two other players since the 2006–07 season in having at least 15 goals and at least 15 assists.

This accomplishment was only made by Eden Hazard in the 2011–12 campaign (20 goals and 16 assists), and Mbappe in the 2021–22 campaign (28 goals and 17 assists).
