Tottenham have named Xabi Alonso as their preferred contender for the vacant management position, with Feyenoord coach Arne Slot another option.
The former Spain international has done a fantastic job at BayArena with Bayer Leverkusen since taking over in October, as the Bundesliga club is now in the Europa League semi-finals and has a European spot for next season. While Tottenham have yet to find a permanent manager following the departure of Antonio Conte in March, and interim manager Cristian Stellini has also left, Ryan Mason finds himself in charge for a second time until the end of the season.
According to De Telegraaf, Alonso has emerged as the frontrunner to become Tottenham’s next manager, with Feyenoord coach Arne Slot coming in second. The Dutch club is on the verge of winning the Eredivisie, and the club’s administration is doing all possible to keep him. They are thought to be drafting a new contract with better terms, as well as looking to strengthen the squad ahead of a Champions League challenge next season.

Moreover, Alonso is preferred over Slot because he has played at the highest level with Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Bayern Munich, and is familiar with the rigors of top-level European football. His achievement in the Europa League is another feather in his cap which has tilted the scales in his favour
As Tottenham’s hunt for their next manager continues behind the scenes, Harry Kane & Co. are looking to finish the season in the best possible manner under Mason, and will next host Crystal Place on Saturday in the Premier League.
