Arsenal Has Officially Completed Its First Piece Of Summer Transfer Business, With A £5.9 Million Windfall Secured

Arsenal have officially scored a £5.9 million transfer windfall as Pablo Mari is expected to join Serie A side Monza on a permanent basis this summer.

Arsenal has made their first official sale of the summer transfer season.

After his side drew 1-1 with AS Roma on Wednesday night, Arsenal defender Pablo Mari, who is currently on loan with Serie A outfit Monza, will leave the Emirates Stadium permanently at the end of the current season. Mari will join the Biancorossi on a permanent basis for £5.9 million now that the Biancorossi have ensured their survival in the Italian top division for next season.

Last year, football.london reported that the north Londoners would get this windfall if Monza could stay up this season, with the Italian team now sitting 18 points above the relegation zone with only five games remaining. Arsenal will be hoping that Mari is the first of several loan players to depart permanently this summer, with a number of other periphery players expected to move in order to strengthen Mikel Arteta’s transfer wallet.

Some names currently on loan who have been linked with moves away include Nicolas Pepe, Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Charlie Patino. According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, the Gunners are willing to facilitate Patino’s transfer this summer, as the 19-year-old is eager for consistent game time next season.

football.london has learned that Patino’s problem is mostly one of timing, as the north London club seeks to cut the gap on league leaders Manchester City.
