Chelsea Set To Make Mauricio Pochettino Decision This Week

Chelsea will reportedly make a decision on who will become the next permanent manager this week at the club, with Mauricio Pochettino poised to take over.

The Blues have been without a permanent manager since Graham Potter’s 31-game stint at Stamford Bridge ended on April 3. At that point, club legend Frank Lampard made a temporary return to west London.

Lampard finally secured his first win as Chelsea manager during his second stint, against Bournemouth, after six straight defeats, and he will be in charge for the club’s remaining four games of the 2022-23 season.

The Athletic reports that sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley are close to completing the Blues’ search for a new manager.

One year after being sacked by Paris Saint-Germain, former Spurs and Southampton manager Pochettino is about to take the reins once again.

Pochettino previously led Tottenham to the Champions League final and won the Ligue 1 title with Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe at PSG.

Mauricio Pochettino has allegedly been the clear favorite for the position in recent weeks after a number of other contenders were rejected.

Both Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique were initially considered for the position, but both dropped out for personal reasons.

He is prepared to take over a club that is currently 11th in the Premier League table despite spending £600m ($758m) on new players in the last two transfer windows.

Chelsea fans are hoping that Pochettino can turn around their underperforming team and get them back to competing for championships.
