Chelsea And Man Utd Target Declan Rice Signals Transfer Intent With Latest West Ham Twist

According to The Sun, Declan Rice is swiftly emerging as Manchester United’s top transfer target, with his performance for West Ham United last week setting chins wagging among the club’s scouts.

The Hammers very certainly sealed their Premier League status with a tenacious and well-deserved 1-0 victory over the Red Devils, with Rice providing a man-of-the-match performance in the center of the park.

West Ham will let the 24-year-old to leave the London Stadium if a Champions League team makes a bid of £120 million, according to Sky Sports on Tuesday (9 May).

Following Rice’s outstanding performance against them last week, a source told The Sun of Manchester United’s interest in the midfielder.

“Rice is fast emerging as United’s number one summer target,” he stated.

“He completely controlled the game, and United’s coaching staff and scouts were all discussing him after the game.”

Dependent on takeover?

“There’s a growing belief that Rice is interested in leaving at the end of the season and United believe they simply have to ensure he heads north and not to Arsenal or Chelsea.

“The club regard him as a player they could potentially build a team around.”

Following rumours of West Ham’s exorbitant assessment of Rice this week, it remains to be seen which clubs can genuinely afford to sign him this summer.

Although Manchester United may consider the England international their top priority, any move for him will most likely be contingent on if the club’s takeover is completed in time for the summer transfer window.

Without a fresh injection of cash and with the club’s transfer intentions being clouded in uncertainty, it seems improbable that they could support a fee of £100 million or more for West Ham United captain – especially given the club’s need for a centre-forward and other defensive options.
