Manchester United midfielder Marcel Sabitzer has been ruled out for the rest of the season with a knee injury, the club announced on Monday.
Sabitzer joined the Red Devils on loan from German giants Bayern Munich in January, signing until the end of the 2022-23 season.
Sabitzer has three goals and one assist in 18 competitive outings for the 20-time English champions.
However, the Austria international was ruled out of Saturday’s 2-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers due to a knee injury.
Man United have now confirmed that the Bayern Munich loanee will miss the rest of the season due to a meniscus injury.
“Everyone at the club is disappointed to lose Marcel’s services, as we strive for a strong finish to our season in the Premier League and the FA Cup,” Man United stated on their club website.
“We appreciate his contribution to our progress so far. We would like to wish Marcel well in having a speedy recovery.”
Sabitzer will miss the FA Cup final against Manchester City, as well as league games against Bournemouth, Chelsea, and Fulham, due to the injury.
With Sabitzer due to return to Bayern Munich at the end of the season, he may have played his final game for Manchester United.
Man United have not decided whether to pursue a permanent transfer for the 29-year-old, according to BBC Sport.
Sabitzer’s absence adds to Erik ten Hag’s injury troubles, with Lisandro Martinez and Donny van de Beek also out for the season.

Marcus Rashford’s fitness is under question after he missed the win over Wolves, while Scott McTominay is also out injured.
Man United, who are currently fourth in the Premier League, are preparing for Saturday’s away game against Bournemouth.
