Leicester to reward Riyad Mahrez with new £4m-a-year deal

Riyad Mahrez could see his wages jump to £4 million a year as Leicester City prepare to reward their Premier League heroes in the closing weeks of a magnificent campaign.

Mahrez has enjoyed a scintillating campaign at the King Power Stadium which has seen him record 17 goals and 11 assists in the top flight, leading the Foxes to the cusp of becoming just the sixth team to lift the title in Premier League history.

He was voted the PFA Player of the Year by his fellow professionals last month and with Leicester so close to writing their name into the history books, club chiefs are to sign off on bumper deals for a number of first-team stars.

The Mirror report that Mahrez will be the first in line, with the Algerian set to see his yearly salary increase to £4 million three months after Jamie Vardy penned a new deal worth a reported £80,000 per week.

Improved terms will also be offered to Claudio Ranieri, as suggested by the Mirror, with the Italian’s side potentially less than 24 hours away from being crowned Premier League champions.

Leicester were unable to seal the title at the home of 13-time winners Manchester United on Sunday after drawing 1-1 but if Tottenham Hotspur drop points at the home of holders Chelsea on Monday night when the Foxes’ fate will finally be officially sealed.
