Reiss Nelson Set To Agree New Arsenal Contract

Arsenal attacker Reiss Nelson is reportedly set to agree a new long term contract with the Gunners.

The 23-year-old has been plagued by injuries during the 2022-23 season, and the form of Bukayo Saka has also limited his playing time under Mikel Arteta.

Nelson, however, has shown to be a useful option off the bench this season, scoring three goals and setting up two more in cameo roles.

Nelson came off the bench to set up Ben White’s equalizer before scoring a stunning injury-time winner in March’s 3-2 win over Bournemouth.

The former England Under-21 international, though, is poised to become a free agent at the close of the season, and talks over a new contract have so far failed to produce an acceptable result.

Nelson, who stated last year that he wanted to stay in North London, is reported to have already rejected two renewal offers, but Arsenal and Nelson’s team could eventually come to an agreement on a third.

According to The Athletic, Nelson is close to signing a new four-year contract until the end of the 2026-27 season, with a 12-month extension option.

Arsenal have awarded Nelson with a new long-term contract to highlight his value to the team, and the attacker will reject Premier League and international interest to stay in red and white.

AC Milan, Brighton & Hove Albion, Fulham, and West Ham United were all said to be monitoring Nelson’s progress, but the winger could now celebrate two decades in North London if his proposed new contract is approved.

Nelson could become the fifth Arsenal player to sign a contract extension this season, following Saka and Aaron Ramsdale’s commitments earlier this month.
